Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor GOTY is an exciting game that bridges the narrative gap between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. The game is set in the eerie Land of Shadows, Mordor, and revolves around the protagonist, Talion. After losing everything, including his life, Talion is possessed by a powerful wraith, Celebrimbor, and rises from the dead to avenge his family’s murder.
The game features the unique Nemesis System, where the game’s artificial intelligence remembers the player’s previous actions and reacts accordingly. Each enemy in the game has a unique identity, including a name, rank, and memory. They continue their tasks even when off-screen, and the game progresses in real time. This means an enemy you encounter in one session might have advanced in rank when you meet them next.
As the game progresses, Talion becomes more powerful, but so do his enemies. Talion has special Wraith abilities that give him an advantage in battles. He can slow down time, teleport, and spot targets from a distance in the wraith world. These abilities can be upgraded individually, and more potent abilities can be unlocked. The game offers various ways to complete the main objective and numerous side quests and random events to keep the player engaged.
Unfortunately, some features like the Nemesis Forge, Vendetta missions, and WBPlay are no longer available. However, all players will automatically receive the epic runes “Orc Hunter” and “Gravewalker”.
