The game is set in the dying forest of Nibel, where Ori, a young orphan, is destined for heroic deeds. The game begins after a severe storm triggers a series of catastrophic events, prompting Ori to embark on a brave journey to save his home.
The game’s narrative revolves around Ori, a small creature born from a leaf that fell from the Spirit Tree. Ori is adopted by Naru, a local resident who aspires to nurture him into a hero. However, when the Spirit Tree loses its power and ceases to nourish the forest, Naru passes away, and Ori decides to investigate. As Ori nears the tree, he too starts to weaken. The tree uses its last energy to send Ori on a mission to save the forest and the Spirit Tree itself.
